Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Præstegaard I Norge (Clergy House In Norway) by Frits Thaulow was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,551.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frits Thaulow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 122,752.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Præstegaard I Norge (Clergy House In Norway) von Frits Thaulow wurde im Januar 2020 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 31.551,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Frits Thaulow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall) beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 96.500,00 (€ 122.752,22) versteigert wurde.
