The work Midnight Mass by Frits Thaulow was sold in the European Art auction at Christies in New York in April 2019. The result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,638.87) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frits Thaulow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 122,752.22).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Midnight Mass von Frits Thaulow wurde im April 2019 in der Auktion European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.638,87) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Frits Thaulow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall) beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 96.500,00 (€ 122.752,22) versteigert wurde.
