Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Surgeon General V. von Wiebel, facing left in blue coat with red-bordered gold-embroidered blue collar and gold buttons, black stock, wearing numerous orders including the Imperial Russian Orders of St Ann (second class) and St Vladimir (fourth class by Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001. The price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,365.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jean, Archiduc D'Autriche (1776-1847), which sold at auction in September 2015 for EUR 9,375.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.115,00 (€ 3.365,63) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Jean, Archiduc D'Autriche (1776-1847) beobachtet, die im September 2015 für EUR 9.375,00 versteigert wurde.
