Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young gentleman believed to be a Count Rantzau, facing left in coat and frilled cravat, hair en queue by Friedrich Carl Gröger was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,804.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Friedrich Carl Gröger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Sophie Caroline von Berger, nee Gräfin Krag-Juel-Vind-Fries, three-quarter-length, in a white dress and a silk wrap, standing in a landscape, leaning on a pedestal with lilies in December 2010 with an auction result of EUR 18,750.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.804,69) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden.
