This artwork by Friedrich Brentel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2013. In the Old Masters and 19th Century Art auction, the work A Mountainous Landscape With Venus And Adonis And Venus' Chariot In The Sky sold for EUR 6,875.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Friedrich Brentel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ladies and cavaliers in a ballroom, after Abraham Bosse (Leblanc 771) in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 101,500.00 (€ 104,027.88).
