Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Abigail Before King David by Friedrich Brentel was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. The price achieved of USD 5,625.00 (€ 5,070.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Friedrich Brentel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ladies and cavaliers in a ballroom, after Abraham Bosse (Leblanc 771) in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 101,500.00 (€ 104,027.88).
