In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Dedham lock by Frederick Waters Watts. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,698.13), 63% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Waters Watts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dedham Lock on the River Stour, which sold at auction in May this year for GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,912.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dedham lock von Frederick Waters Watts zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.698,13) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick Waters Watts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dedham Lock on the River Stour beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.912,59) versteigert wurde.
