Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2020 Christies in London held the auction Modern British Art Day Sale, which included the work Roman Matron by Frederick Edward McWilliam. The price achieved of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 71,369.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Edward McWilliam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Woodhenge, which sold at auction in June 2018 for GBP 224,750.00 (€ 254,005.80).
