Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Axehead by Frederick Edward McWilliam was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2020. The price achieved of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 81,777.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Edward McWilliam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Woodhenge, which sold at auction in June 2018 for GBP 224,750.00 (€ 254,005.80).
