Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tales of Hoffman 2 by Frederick Cress was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in November 2003. The price achieved of AUD 1,762.50 (€ 1,063.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Cress achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Strangers Before in August 2004 with an auction result of AUD 23,900.00 (€ 13,871.53).

Die Arbeit Tales of Hoffman 2 von Frederick Cress wurde im November 2003 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 1.762,50 (€ 1.063,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Cress erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Strangers Before im August 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 23.900,00 (€ 13.871,53).
