A top price for Frederick Cress - as previously expected
In August 2004 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Strangers Before by Frederick Cress. The price achieved of AUD 23,900.00 (€ 13,871.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Strangers Before is the most expensive artwork by Frederick Cress that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im August 2004 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Strangers Before von Frederick Cress zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 23.900,00 (€ 13.871,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Strangers Before das teuerste Kunstwerk von Frederick Cress, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
