Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Fishing Boats In A Heavy Swell Off A Fortified Headland by Frederick Calvert for GBP 1,195.00 (€ 1,719.00). This price was achieved in the auction MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES (PICTURES) at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Calvert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,712.92).

Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES (PICTURES) bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Calvert erzielen.
