In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Paintings, which included the work A Swell In The Channel by Frederick Calvert. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,586.66), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Calvert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,712.92).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Swell In The Channel von Frederick Calvert zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.586,66) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Calvert erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.712,92).
