In June 2008 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work A young gentleman, in blue coat, white waistcoat and tied cravat, powdered hair by Frédéric Dubois. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,528.07), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Frédéric Dubois have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work General Petr (Varfolomei) Andreevich Kikin (1775-1834), in military uniform of black coat with gold-embroidered red collar and gold epaulettes, wearing orders including the red sash and breast-star of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Alexander Nevsk in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,1
