Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Yayoi Kusama Performance, c. 1960s by Fred McDarrah was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,907.65). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Fred McDarrah - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Andy Warhol with his Cow Wallpaper, Castelli Gallery, April 1, 1966, which sold at auction in October this year for USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,961.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Yayoi Kusama Performance, c. 1960s von Fred McDarrah im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.907,65) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Fred McDarrah mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Andy Warhol with his Cow Wallpaper, Castelli Gallery, April 1, 1966 beobachtet, die im Oktober diesen Jahres für USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.961,39) versteigert wurde.
