This artwork by Fred McDarrah achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October this year. In the A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection auction, the work Yayoi Kusama, Performance Artist, June 7, 1967 sold for USD 5,292.00 (€ 5,007.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fred McDarrah; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Andy Warhol with his Cow Wallpaper, Castelli Gallery, April 1, 1966 sold at auction in October this year with the realized price of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,961.39).
