It achieved a price of GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,845.63), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 27%. Admittedly, works by Fred Thurlby have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Stout, winner of 12 first and 8 second prizes at various shows; and Madam, winner of first prize at Viscount Tredegar's Show 1908 in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 11,819.77).

Die Arbeit Rose of Crossrig (33662), a heavy horse von Fred Thurlby wurde im Juni 2004 in der Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.912,00 (€ 2.845,63) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 27%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fred Thurlby auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Stout, winner of 12 first and 8 second prizes at various shows; and Madam, winner of first prize at Viscount Tredegar's Show 1908 im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.225,00 (€ 11.819,77).
