This artwork by František Foltýn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2011. In the The Hascoe Family Collection: Important Czech Art auction, the work Czech portrait Of Dostoyevsky (Dostojevskij) sold for GBP 337,250.00 (€ 373,104.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 180,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by František Foltýn; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Czech imperialism (Imperialismus) sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 479,310.59).
