Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings, which included the work The Poulterer by Frans van Mieris the Younger. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,574.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frans van Mieris the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A man and a woman in a grocer's shop, with fish in a woven basket and scales on a stone ledge sculpted with putti, with a basket of walnuts, a sack of peas, a barrel of dates in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 63,698.79).
