Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2002 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of Pieter de la Court (1722-1775), small three-quarter-length, on a balcony, in a gold-embroidered oyster-grey jacket and a blue waistocat, his cane in his hand, and of his wife, Geertruida Jacoba de Bye (b. 1725) small three-quarter-length, by Frans van Mieris the Younger. The price achieved of EUR 7,767.50 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frans van Mieris the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A man and a woman in a grocer's shop, with fish in a woven basket and scales on a stone ledge sculpted with putti, with a basket of walnuts, a sack of peas, a barrel of dates in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 63,698.79).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 7.767,50 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden.
