Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frans Snyders could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Pictures auction, the work A deer, a fawn and other dead game suspended on hooks, a lobster on a porcelain plate, artichokes and grapes, apples, plums and other fruit in a basket on a partly-draped table with two monkeys changed hands for GBP 195,650.00 (€ 295,670.21) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frans Snyders have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A larder with a draped table laden with game, a lobster, vegetables and fruit in a basket, and kraak porcelain, with a parrot and two hounds in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,112,750.00 (€ 1,239,702.19).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
