Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Berwick-on-Tweed by Frank Watson Wood was sold in the The Scottish Sale at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh auction at Christies in London in October 2005. The price achieved of GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,477.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frank Watson Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surrender of the German Fleet, Scapa, Dec 1918 in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 12,562.00 (€ 14,219.43).
