In October this year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work H.M.S. Revenge at Scapa Flow, December 1918 by Frank Watson Wood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,560.00 (€ 2,939.59), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Frank Watson Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surrender of the German Fleet, Scapa, Dec 1918 in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 12,562.00 (€ 14,219.43).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit H.M.S. Revenge at Scapa Flow, December 1918 von Frank Watson Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.560,00 (€ 2.939,59) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Watson Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Surrender of the German Fleet, Scapa, Dec 1918 im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.562,00 (€ 14.219,43).
