Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work HMS Vanguard flying the royal standard with destroyer escort by Frank Watson Wood. The price achieved of GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,423.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Frank Watson Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surrender of the German Fleet, Scapa, Dec 1918 in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 12,562.00 (€ 14,219.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit HMS Vanguard flying the royal standard with destroyer escort von Frank Watson Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.275,00 (€ 1.423,33) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Watson Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Surrender of the German Fleet, Scapa, Dec 1918 im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.562,00 (€ 14.219,43).
