Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A trading vessel under tug escort with other vessels on the river crowded with spectators by Frank Wasley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,422.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Wasley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work St. Paul's from the South Bank, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,446.83).
