This artwork by Frank McKelvey achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2017. In the Irish Art auction, the work The Park Pond sold for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 34,035.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frank McKelvey; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The sunlit bench sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 40,800.00 (€ 60,039.96).
