Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Lord Gave And The Lord Hath Taken Away by Frank Holl was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 25,461.60). Admittedly, works by Frank Holl have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Absconded in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 90,370.00 (€ 134,497.63).
