Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work 'Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith' by Frank Holl. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,450.00 (€ 34,081.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Holl - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Absconded, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 90,370.00 (€ 134,497.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith' von Frank Holl zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 32.450,00 (€ 34.081,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Frank Holl mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Absconded beobachtet, die im Juni 2004 für GBP 90.370,00 (€ 134.497,63) versteigert wurde.
