Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Lady (Head Of A Girl) by Frank Duveneck was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,322.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Duveneck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Florentine Girl in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 248,000.00 (€ 293,317.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady (Head Of A Girl) von Frank Duveneck im April 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.322,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frank Duveneck erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Florentine Girl im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 248.000,00 (€ 293.317,56).
