Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Recto: Seated Woman; Verso: Legs Of A Standing Man by François de Troy was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,846.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François de Troy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Feast Of Dido And Aeneas: An Allegorical Portrait Of The Family Of The Duc And Duchesse Du Maine in June 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,776,000.00 (€ 1,313,609.47).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.846,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
