Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by François de Troy was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,241.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François de Troy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Feast Of Dido And Aeneas: An Allegorical Portrait Of The Family Of The Duc And Duchesse Du Maine in June 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,776,000.00 (€ 1,313,609.47).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Feast Of Dido And Aeneas: An Allegorical Portrait Of The Family Of The Duc And Duchesse Du Maine im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.776.000,00 (€ 1.313.609,47).
