Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Constructivo by Francisco Matto was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,375.00 (€ 2,035.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francisco Matto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Constructivo en rojo y azul in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 56,250.00 (€ 51,164.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Constructivo von Francisco Matto im Mai 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.375,00 (€ 2.035,13) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francisco Matto erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Constructivo en rojo y azul im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 51.164,27).
