In November 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait of Mrs. Millet by Francis David Millet. The price achieved of USD 79,000.00 (€ 53,785.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Mrs. Millet is the most expensive artwork by Francis David Millet that we have observed at auctions so far.
