Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of a Classical Woman by Francis David Millet for USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,301.89). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Furniture, Folk Art and Decorative Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis David Millet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Mrs. Millet in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 79,000.00 (€ 53,785.40).
