Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francis Cotes could be acquired at Sothebys in London in June 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important British Paintings auction, the work Portrait Of Sir William Langham (1737-1791) changed hands for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,850.31) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 532,905.34).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 422.500,00 (€ 532.905,34).
