Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Portrait of Dorothea Tucker (b. 1741), in a pale pink dress and blue shawl by Francis Cotes. The price achieved of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,933.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 532,905.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Dorothea Tucker (b. 1741), in a pale pink dress and blue shawl von Francis Cotes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.933,11) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Cotes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 422.500,00 (€ 532.905,34).
