Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Portait Of Maria Walpole, Countess Waldegrave, Later Duchess Of Gloucester (1736-1807) by Francis Cotes for GBP 34,850.00 (€ 36,602.64). This price was achieved in the auction Early British & Irish Paintings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 35,000.00 – 45,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 532,905.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portait Of Maria Walpole, Countess Waldegrave, Later Duchess Of Gloucester (1736-1807) von Francis Cotes für GBP 34.850,00 (€ 36.602,64) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Early British & Irish Paintings bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 35.000,00 – 45.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Cotes erzielen.
