Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I, which included the work Three Studies for Self-Portrait by Francis Bacon. The price achieved of USD 29,015,000.00 (€ 28,107,139.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000,000.00 – 35,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Bacon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud, which sold at auction in November 2013 for USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).
