It achieved a price of USD 3,187.50 (€ 2,863.88), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 28%. Admittedly, works by Francesco Scavullo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Janis Joplin, 1969 in May 2016 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 21,204.54).

Die Arbeit Sam Wagstaff And Robert Mapplethorpe von Francesco Scavullo kam im Juli 2019 bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 3.187,50 (€ 2.863,88) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 28%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francesco Scavullo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Janis Joplin, 1969 im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 21.204,54).
