Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,012.06). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 312,000.00 (€ 240,036.93).

Die Arbeit The Martyrdom of Saint James the Greater von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso kam im Februar 2024 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 12.600,00 (€ 11.012,06) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso erzielen.
