Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of Heads by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso was sold in the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,304.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 312,000.00 (€ 240,036.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study of Heads von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.304,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Annunciation im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 312.000,00 (€ 240.036,93).
