Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Recto: Study of a man kneeling, looking upwards, his hands joined in prayer Verso: Various subsidiary studies for the same figure by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso was sold in the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,304.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 312,000.00 (€ 240,036.93).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.304,67) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Annunciation im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 312.000,00 (€ 240.036,93).
