Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hercules seated on a cloud by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,780.00 (€ 4,432.83) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 312,000.00 (€ 240,036.93).
