Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Floral Still Lifes Of Bouquets Of Flowers In Sculpted Urns, Upon A Ledge by Francesco Mantovano was sold in the Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,914.20) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Mantovano - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Carnations, lilies, narcissi, convolvulus and other flowers in a sculpted urn on a stone ledge; and Tulips, roses, carnations and convolvulus in a sculpted urn on a stone ledge, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,676.11).
