The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,702.76), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Salvator Fontebasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 312,000.00 (€ 240,036.93).

Die Arbeit The Vision of Saint Jerome von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 21.250,00 (€ 23.702,76) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Salvator Fontebasso erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Annunciation im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 312.000,00 (€ 240.036,93).
