Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bows by Frances Macdonald MacNair was sold in the British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 48,741.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frances Macdonald MacNair - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Sleeping Princess, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 66,000.00 (€ 97,816.17).
