Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French Concarneau by Fernand Marie Eugène Legout-Gérard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 13,799.09). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Fernand Marie Eugène Legout-Gérard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Breton Figures in a Landscape, which sold at auction in May 2001 for USD 41,125.00 (€ 48,639.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French Concarneau von Fernand Marie Eugène Legout-Gérard im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 17.500,00 (€ 13.799,09) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Fernand Marie Eugène Legout-Gérard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Breton Figures in a Landscape beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für USD 41.125,00 (€ 48.639,86) versteigert wurde.
