This artwork by Ferdinand Schirren achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2002. In the IMPRESSIONIST, MODERN AND POST WAR ART auction, the work The forest sold for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,378.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ferdinand Schirren; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Femme devant la glace sold at auction in October this year with the realized price of EUR 10,710.00.
