Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro looking across Guanabara Bay from Icaraí beach, Niterói, with fishermen before the Itapuca rock by Ferdinand Keller was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,049.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ferdinand Keller - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diana, which sold at auction in November 2019 for EUR 28,750.00.
