Despite a disappointment, a good price for Eyre Crowe
In February 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work The Foundry by Eyre Crowe for GBP 29,875.00 (€ 43,616.56). This price was achieved in the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, The Foundry is the most expensive artwork by Eyre Crowe that we have observed at auction so far.
